Earn More with a Bachelor of Applied Science

With a bachelor’s degree you can make, on average, 33% more than those without a bachelor’s degree (U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics). Maximize your earning potential with Boise State’s Bachelor of Applied Science.

The Bachelor of Applied Science is designed for students who already have earned a technical associate degree (Associate of Applied Science), Intermediate Technical Certificate (ITC) or an Advanced Technical Certificate (ATC) from an accredited college or university.

As a student, you will work with an advisor to choose a concentration tailored to your interests. Concentrations include certificates and minors, including business, leadership, communication, cyber, healthcare and education.

Take classes 100% online or combine online and in-person courses to earn your degree. If you choose to take classes 100% online, you can choose a concentration or an online emphasis area in high-demand industries including cyber, early childhood education and project management.

Online Cyber Operations Essentials Emphasis

Learn critical cyber skills to design cyber processes and programs to protect information systems and networks. This emphasis area is relevant in almost every industry and adds career-focused coursework to your bachelor’s degree.

Online Early Childhood Essentials Emphasis

Explore best practices in children’s inquiry, development and early childhood education and develop your skills to become a leader and advocate. This emphasis area prepares you to work as an educator who supports young children’s development and collaborates with families.

Online Project Management Emphasis

Develop project plans, manage timelines, work with stakeholders and execute strategic goals. This emphasis area prepares you for the Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) exam or the Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.

Bring Your Experience With You

Each applied science student brings a lot of experience when they start their path at Boise State. Our goal is to build on your education and experience to help you get ahead instead of feeling like you are starting from scratch.

Community College Partnerships

Boise State Online’s applied science program has partnered with community colleges across Idaho to help you transfer up to 80 general and technical education credits.

AAS and Technical Credits

Your Associate of Applied Science (AAS), Intermediate Technical Certificates and Advanced Technical Certificates can help you earn your bachelor’s degree. Talk with a student success coach to learn how this degree leverages your hard work.

Credit for Prior Learning

Not all learning happens in the classroom, and we believe that your experiences through work, volunteering and life should have the potential to count toward your degree. Create a portfolio that showcases your learning and receive credit for prior learning to save time and money.

“A college education opens doors. I spent my entire life working on mechanical things, working outside in the elements, and I was ready for something more. The applied science program gives you direction and helps you figure out what’s next in your life and career.”

- Air Force Master Sergeant Douglas Fellows, program graduate

“In the program, we take an integrative learning course, and it will flip your thinking on your head in the best possible way. It stops you from choosing between two bad decisions and allows you to look for more options. The knowledge that you’re gaining just starts to overflow in wonderful ways into your regular life.”

- Patricia Reay, current student
